If you are ever in the OC area (specifically Irvine), please give Fukada a try! It is by far the most delicious and mouthwatering udon I have ever had. Believe me, I have had plenty of udon and ramen for the record. They provide set menus that range about $12 for lunch and $14 for dinner (if you get the salad the prices do go up). The types of udon they serve is tanuki and sansei. Also, my favorite sides are their spicy tuna bowl and curry bowl. The curry was extremely delicious and sweet. Plus, you can’t ever end the night without some hot sake, right? Make sure to go early or be prepared to wait!

Lately I’ve been fascinated by these birds. Their colors are so bright and vibrant…it’s almost as if there is no possible way that they exist. Perhaps it is my inner need to fly out into the world and leave all my worries behind which has transcended into my blog. Regardless, these birds look so beautiful and delicate…perhaps it is time to take up bird watching!
Newport Beach. I’ve been to Fashion Island many times, even went to a couple wine bars out at Newport, but I never really went to the actual beach. If you look closely at the middle picture it seems that the sand reaches forever. Honestly, I thought so too while I was walking in the sand, until I finally hit the side a realized there was an small cliff. Lo and behold, Newport Beach seems to have an elevated cliff with just a small strip of sand between the land and ocean. If you want a close look at the ocean, Newport Beach is the way to go. You feel so close to the ocean at an elevated ledge which makes you wonder, where did all the sand go?
I recently went to AOC Wine Bar cause I was dying to try out a new wine bar. I really enjoy wine bars (more posts coming up!). I have to say though, the restaurant was a little pretentious. I definitely felt the “I’m not good enough” look but the waiters were a lot nicer and helpful with the menu. If you ever get a chance definitely try this place out. And if you are on a budget it would be a great time to check out dineLA
to see if there are any budget friendly options. Enjoy!

Originally I didn’t like stripes very much. I would constantly read in magazines that horizontal stripes makes people look fat etc., and I didn’t really enjoy that. However, I think after a long time, stripes are somewhat pretty, but only if done in the right way. For example, gold and white, black and white, and gray and white are amazing combinations. I think blue and white is nice if one likes nautical looks.
The other day driving back to Los Angeles from Arcadia, I saw peacocks. I thought I was crazy and after taking some sad iPhone pictures (the quality is horrible) of these beautiful creatures, I had to find out why these peacocks were there. Apparently these peacocks are from the nearby Arcadia Arboretum (wow). Amazing. The last place I saw peacocks was in a zoo, somewhere in Australia….
I remember the first time I had maple candy I literally thought I went to Heaven. It was so delicious and sweet at the same time. Pure sugar. Looking at all these different ways of how to utilize maple in pastries just makes me want to buy a bottle of maple syrup and cook up some pancakes! I have to say, even though I’m not Canadian, but all is well because there can never be too much maple!

Pismo Beach. Farther away than most of the beaches here in Southern California, the perfect distance to get away from the craziness of Los Angeles, but close enough to feel somewhat near. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and it has been rumored that you can find sea glass at one of these beaches. I have yet to find sea glass (last time around I found a lot of sand dollars, will have to take a picture one day and dig up the old pictures), but I do hope to be in luck someday to find sea glass.
Rokuan, a small quaint restaurant located in Chino Hills. Not a large location, this place holds one of the most delicious and authentic Japanese ramen & sushi that you can find. On the left is the black miso ramen, the right the tonkatsu ramen. Beware, the black miso ramen is spicy! The yellow tail sushi (top) was delicious. The side dishes of spicy tuna and spicy salmon are incredibly gratifying. I highly recommend the spicy salmon to those who love salmon and enjoy a slight kick!
